I've been going through a severe case of chronic magenblase (excessive gas/belching) for almost 5 years now. I've been able to reduce symptoms by about 90%, but when I have to poop I also have to belch excessively as my pyloric sphincter is letting gas come back up into my guts. Then I have to belch to get rid of it because if I don't they will come out as dry heaves. The doctors at the VA have all been stumped, nothing they do works. Now I'm being sent to a specialist downtown and hopefully he will have some answers. For now I'm chained to my toilet until about 10am daily.

I am glad they are sending you to some sort of specialist (other than VA), not that 'they' are better. Hope you get a wise one.
I do not know where your VA is located, but ours has a wave effect. Up-Down in stable help. It gets good and then they change "Leaders" (political step ups) and then it goes down. Believe me it goes down faster than it goes up!
I think the people, docs and medical help, are burn-outs from private practice and really just want to sit out the rest of their career until retirement. Plus they have lost so many from work overload that there is much more workload demand. VA for some reason are very big on prescribing meds chronically. My husband will not leave this system and it frustrates the hell out of me. I want to find our own way of dealing with his issues. I have finally given up and will just accept that he is in control of his own-ness. Live or die.
